PRIMARY ANGIOSARCOMA OF THE HEART : AN AUTOPSY CASE REPORT WITH IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL OBSERVATIONS

タイトル: PRIMARY ANGIOSARCOMA OF THE HEART : AN AUTOPSY CASE REPORT WITH IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL OBSERVATIONS
著者: Maruyama, Hiroshi; Yokose, Yoshihiko; Kobayashi, Eisaku; Endo, Takehiro; Tsujiuchi, Toshifumi; Tsutsumi, Masahiro; Nakae, Dai; Nishimine, Kiyoshi; Kitamura, Soichiro; Konishi, Yoichi
抄録: An autopsy case of primary angiosarcoma of the heart is reported. The
patient was a 24 year old male and developed a tumor mass in the right atrium with a first
symptom of pericardial effusion. As a result of intensive therapies including surgical
operation and radiation therapy, the patient survived just 2 years after his first visit, and
died of the rupture of the multiple metastatic tumors in the liver. The tumor cells of the
present case were mainly composed of three types : (1) endothelial cells, (2) spindle cells
and (3) epithelioid cells. Endothelial cells in the cavernous area showed positive reactivity
to antibodies for Ulex europaeus agglutinin 1 (UEA-1), factor Ⅷ-related antigen (F
Ⅷ), CD 31, BNH 9 (a new blood group-related antigen) and vimentin (Vim). Spindle
tumor cells reacted to antibodies for CD 31, BNH 9 and Vim. However, epithelioid cells
reacted only to Vim. The positive rate of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in
spindle tumor cells showed a higher tendency than that in endothelial tumor cells.

EFFECT OF DIETARY N-3 AND N-6 POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS ON LIVER METASTASIS OF HUMAN COLONIC ADENOCARCINOMAS IN NUDE MICE

タイトル: EFFECT OF DIETARY N-3 AND N-6 POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS ON LIVER METASTASIS OF HUMAN COLONIC ADENOCARCINOMAS IN NUDE MICE
著者: Ueyama, Naoto
抄録: Nude mice at 4-6weeks of age were fed diets containing 10% oil with
different α-linolenic acid (α-LnA, n-3)/linoleic acid (LA, n-6) ratios ; Group A (n-3/n-6
=0.01), Group B (0.30), GroupC (0.87) and GroupD (3.37). After 10 days, each dietary
group of mice received intrasplenic (i.s.) transplantation of human colonic adenocar-
cinomas and was fed the same diet. Animals were sacrificed at 3 weeks after i.s. transplan-
tation of COL 5 with a higher'metastatic potential and at 2 months in the case of COL 4 with
a lower metastatic potential. The incidence of liver metastasis and the average number of
metastatic nodules per mouce decreased in the order of Groups B＜C＜D, A. Dietary α-LnA
(n-3)/LA (n-6) ratio was reflected mainly in eicosapentaenoate (EPA, n-3)/arachidonate
(AA, n-6) ratio in the phospholipid fractions and mainly in α-LnA (n-3)/LA (n-6) ratio
in the triacylglycerol fractions from both the non-cancerous referertce tissues and the
metastatic tumor tissues in liver, similarly. The thromboxane (TX) A₂ and prostaglandin
(PG) I₂ levels decreased along with the increase in EPA/AA ratio of phospholipids, but the
TXA₂/PGI₂ ratio was the highest and the bleeding time was the shortest in Group B as
compared with the other dietary groups. Thus, the metastatic potential of intrasplenically
transplanted human colonic carcinoma cells was positively correlated with both the TXA₂
/PGI₂ ratio in liver and thrombotic tendency, but not with dietary α-LnA/LA ratios in nude
mice.

HIGH FLOW DOES NOT ABOLISH THE REDUCED MAXIMUM OXYGEN UPTAKE IN DOG MUSCLE PERFUSED WITH 2, 3-DIPHOSPHOGLYCERATE-DEPLETED BLOOD

タイトル: HIGH FLOW DOES NOT ABOLISH THE REDUCED MAXIMUM OXYGEN UPTAKE IN DOG MUSCLE PERFUSED WITH 2, 3-DIPHOSPHOGLYCERATE-DEPLETED BLOOD
著者: Kohzuki, Hisaharu; Enoki, Yasunori; Sakata, Susumu; Shimizu, Satoshi; Hattori, Masatoshi
抄録: To clarify the limiting factors for maximum oxygen consumption (⩒ₒ₂max)
in contracting skeletal muscle, we perfused isolated dog gastrocnemius muscle at a high
flow rate with two kinds of blood which have different affinities for oxygen. ⩒ₒ₂max was
decreased significantly in the perfusion with DPG-depleted blood and the reduction was
shown to have resulted from a lower O₂ extraction ratio. ⩒ₒ₂ and O₂ extraction were
closely proportional to the reciprocal of resistance to blood flow. Furthermore, the
different O₂ affinities of the perfusion blood affected these relationships : the slopes for ⩒ₒ₂ and O₂ extraction against the reciprocal of resistance for DPG-restored blood were signifi-
cantly higher than those for DPG-depleted blood. We assumed that red cell transit time is
inversely proportional to the resistance to blood flow and that high O₂-affinity blood is
inherently slow to unload O₂ from red cells. The present results are well explained by our
assumption. The results suggest that ⩒ₒ₂max may be determined by red cell transit time and
O₂ unloading from the red cell.

RAYNAUD'S SYNDROME IMPROVED BY THE INTRAVENOUS ADMINISTRATION OF A THROMBOXANE SYNTHETASE INHIBITOR

タイトル: RAYNAUD'S SYNDROME IMPROVED BY THE INTRAVENOUS ADMINISTRATION OF A THROMBOXANE SYNTHETASE INHIBITOR
著者: Tsuchihashi, Masayuki; Tsunoda, Shigeru; Kitaoka, Soichi; Morita, Yasuhiro; Yumura, Fumitoshi; Yoshida, Kazumasa; Hayashi, Masafumi; Ariyoshi, George; Dohi, Kazuhiro
抄録: A 66-year-old man with multiple cerebral infarctions was treated with
sodium ozagral ; this was associated with an improvement in his Raynaud's syndrome
attributable to vibration-induced white finger disease. Sodium ozagrel selectively inhibits
thromboxane synthetase, reducing thromboxane A₂ (TXA₂) and also slightly increasing
prostacyclin (PGI₂) ; this leads to vasodilatation and the inhibition of platelet aggregation.
An imbalance between TXA₂ and PGI₂ caused by vascular endothelial injury is thought to
cause Raynaud's phenomenon. Sodium ozagrel appears to improve the symptoms of
Raynaud's syndrome by relatively increasing PGI₂, thus correcting the imbalance. Ozagrel,
which currently is being used to treat cerebral thrombosis and bronchial asthma, as well as
to improve vasospasm following subarachnoid hemorrhage, also may provide effective
relief in patients with Raynaud's syndrome.
