抄録: It has been widely considered that the life span of the Japanese has been extended for the past 16～17 years in Japan. Accordingly, we attempted to ascertain whether it was true or not, using another methodologies. Result : The meaning of the span of life would be considered as the age which is suited (or proper) at the top of the mountain formed within the range of 70 to 100 years of age. The span of life of the Japanese has been advancing and retreating for the past 17 years in Japan.

抄録: Observations using scanning electron microscopy were carried out on the scolex of Diplogonoporus grandis (Blanchard, 1894). A live specimen of D. grandis was obtained from a Japanese patient who was treated with Gastrografin. The scolex had prominent sucking grooves on both sides and in a dorsal view, the scolex had a half-open scallop-like shape. This is the first report on the observations of the scolex of a living D. grandis obtained from a human patient using scanning electron microscopy.

抄録: The purpose of this clinical investigation was to examine prophylactic effects of chemotherapeutic agents after transurethral resection of superficial bladder tumor (TURBt). The first study : A total of 130 evaluable cases were randomized into 3 groups : (1) intravesical instillation of doxorubicin (20 mg/40 ml, 30 mg/30 ml), mitomycin C (20 mg/40 ml), or thiotepa (30 mg/30 ml) ; (2) Non-instillation treatment with etretinate or tegafur ; and (3) controls. All agents were administered for 2 years. Significant suppression of recurrence was observed in stage T1 or grade 2 disease treated with prophylactic instillation administered for the first 24 months of the 48-month observation period. The second study : A total of 140 evaluable cases were randomized into 3 groups : (1) intravesical
instillation of thiotepa (30 mg/30 ml) ; (2) oral administration of UFT ; and (3) controls. All agents were administered for 2 years. Significant suppression of recurrence was observed in stage T1, grade 2 or multiple cases with prophylactic instillation of thiotepa for the first 24 months of the 36-month observation period. These 2 studies indicate that bladder instillation therapy of DXR, MMC and thiotepa had some prophylactic effects after TURBt in patients with stage T1, grade 2 and multiple superficial badder cancer.

著者: 田畑, 尚一
抄録: The present investigation was conducted to examine the effects of various chemotherapeutic agents on development of urinary bladder tumors induced by N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl) nitrosamine (BBN) in rats. All rats were given 0.05% BBN in drinking water for the initial 8 weeks of the experiment. Chemotherapeutic agents evaluated in this investigation were administered as single treatments during the subsequent 12 weeks and rats were sacrificed after 20 weeks of the experiment. The investigation was divided into 3 experimental groups according to animal strains and administration methods of chemotherapeutic agents : (1) intraperitoneal administration in male Wistar rats ; (2) oral administration in male Fischer 344 rats ; and (3) intraperitoneal administration in male Fischer 344 rats. In experimental group (1), 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), 1-(2-tetrahydrofuryl)-5-fluorouracil (FT-207), carboquone (CQ), vincristine (VCR) and cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (CDDP) were effective in suppressing the incidence of bladder tumor. On the other hand, doxorubicin (DXR), mitomycin-C (MMC), neocarcinostatine (NCS), cyclophosphamide (CPM) and bleomycin (BLM) were not effective. In experimental group (2), both UFT, 4:1 mixture of uracil and tegafur, and 1-hexylcarbamoyl-5-fluorouracil (HCFU) suppressed the incidence of bladder tumor. In experimental group (3), N, N', N"-triethylene thiophosphoramide (thiotepa) also suppressed the tumor incidence. These results indicate that 5-FU analogue, CQ, VCR, CDDP and thiotepa may be clinically effective for prophylactic treatment for superficial bladder cancer. In addition, continued use of this murine bladder model is recommended for future screening of chemotherapeutic agents for superficial bladder cancer.
