抄録: A case of double superior venae cavae with completely paired azygos veins was found in a 76-year-old Japanese man during an ordinary dissection by medical students at Nara Medical University in 2000. The left superior vena cava was formed by the union of the left internal jugular vein and the left subclavian vein, coursed vertically downward along the thoracic aorta, and entered the coronary sulcus. The vein ran horizontally toward the right in the coronary sulcus and opened into the right atrium. A typical left brachiocephalic vein was not found. The left superior vena cava was the same size as the right one, without communication between them. Paired azygos veins were present.</summary>

抄録: The superficial brachial artery continuing into the forearm as the radial artery was observed in the right upper limb of an 86-year-old Japanese woman who died of pneumonia. The large-sized superficial brachial artery originating from the axillary artery descended ventral to the median nerve, crossed over the median nerve, and continued into the forearm as the radial artery. The small-sized brachial artery, the continuation of the axillary artery, gave off the deep brachial artery and continued into the forearm as the ulnar artery. The brachial artery joined the superficial brachial artery with an anastomotic branch.</summary>

抄録: Dysphagia is one of the disorders of nutrient intake associated with oral function. We have diagnosed and treated patients with dysphagia caused by various diseases. The number of patients referred by other departments in our hospital from January 2002 to January 2005 was 20, including 16 men and 4 women, with an average age of 66.9 years. Of these, 15 patients were evaluated by swallowing a jelly under endoscopic observation. The treatment included direct and/or indirect rehabilitation to improve the swallowing function or to prevent accidental swallowing, according to the dysphagia grade. Thirteen patients became able to take food orally after treatment. We concluded it is necessary to establish a system of team approach involving a speech therapist to evaluate and treat patients with dysphagia.</summary>
